The Cardiothoracic Imaging Unit (CIU) of Narayana Institute of Cardiac Sciences (NICS) in Naryana Health (NH) City, Bangalore is proud to announce its third 1 year Cardiothoracic Imaging and Research Fellowship (CIRF) for suitable candidates with appropriate experience.

The CIU is part of the department of radiology which is equipped with one 128 slice MDCT and a 3 T MR system. The department has two further 1.5 T MR systems and a 64 slice MDCT. Further high end CT and another 3 T unit is being procured.  The unit is led by Dr. Vimal Raj and is staffed with other consultants and junior staff. At an average the CIU performs more than 35 cardiac cross sectional studies (CT and MR) per day.  

The CIRF post will be a 1 year position under the supervision of Dr. Vimal Raj. The CIF will be expected to work 6 days a week. There will be no facility to work from home or take up any part time work outside NH during this tenure. They will be entitled for all public holidays (as per NH schedule) and 25 days of leave during their tenure. They will closely work under the supervision of other Consultants in the department and collaborate with other trainees (DNB). They will be expected to attend relevant clinico-radiological meetings, teaching sessions and conferences. They will also be expected to initiate and continue new and ongoing research work in the unit. The fellow will be trained in accordance with the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) guidelines in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance (CMR) imaging. The fellow will then be eligible to apply for level III certification from the ESC for CMR.

Selection of the candidate will be a competitive process which would include initial shortlisting based on individual resumes and letter of intent. This will be followed by an oral interview process.
A suitable candidate will have appropriate post graduate degree in the field of radiology. Masters or DNB degrees recognised by the MCI will be preferred. Post qualification experience in radiology is not a pre-requisite. People with a vision to sub specialise in the field of cardiothoracic imaging will be preferred. Interest in research and publication is certainly desirable but not essential. 

The selected candidate will pay a one off (non refundable) course fee of Rs. 1.5 lakhs plus tax to the institution. The fellow will be paid a monthly stipend of Rs. 35,000.

5. Recognizing the need for organ based sub-specialty training, the Department of Radiodiagnosis, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi has started three fellowship programs with effect from 1st January, 2017.

These include:
1.     Gastrointestinal  Radiology
2.     Thoracic Radiology
3.     Pediatric Radiology

These are one year fellowships covering both diagnostic and interventional (vascular and non-vascular) aspects of the relevant sub-specialty.

The eligibility criteria is: MD or DNB (Radiodiagnosis) followed by 3 years of Senior Residency (or equivalent teaching experience). Sponsored seats for candidates from Government Institutions and neighboring countries are also available periodically.

Admission is on the basis of an entrance test conducted in the months of April/ November by All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. The test includes a written as well as practical examination.

6. Fellowship in 'Oncoradiology and Intervention'.

Salary between Rs 60,000 and 70,000. 
Tenure 2 yrs.
Exposure to conventional radiology, FFD Mammography and interventions, USG and interventions, 64 MDCT and 3T MRI, Cathlab, CT guided procedures, RFA, Liver interventions, PET-CT and Nuclear Medicine. 
MD or DNB preferred. Candidates who have not passed may also apply. They will be offered registrar post till results are furnished.
Accomodation not provided, but apartments are available near the hospital and HR department assists in securing rentals on shared basis with other fellows of the hospital.

Continuing the schedule of workshops with RITA  (Radiological Institute for Technical Assistance).
We are in process of announcing practical exam oriented courses on DNB/ MD students with 1st workshop on Chest and CVS on 13,14,15 August, 2016. We plan to take all 8 systems required for exam. Every 3 months we will take up 2 systems and complete the whole course in one year. The course aims at providing best teaching for DNB/ MD students for practical examination and preparation.
The workshop will include sessions of cases, spotters, viva and presentation by eminent Radiologists and examiners of DNB.
