This 26-years old man had pain in the abdomen. CT scan showed a mesenteric mass with a scirrhous appearance – findings highly suggestive of carcinoid. An FDG PET showed uptake.
I biopsied the lesion with a 20G coaxial needle. To our pleasant surprise, it turned out to be culture positive TB.
Tuberculosis in India just about simulates any diagnosis….all the more reason why a biopsy is a must in most situations.
